Fundação O Pão dos Pobres:
Protection, training and opportunities for young people in Brazil
The Fundação O Pão dos Pobres de Santo Antônio supports more than 1,400 children, adolescents and young people living in situations of social vulnerability in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Founded in 1895, it was initially established to assist families affected by the Federalist Revolution and later became an orphanage. Today, the foundation carries out its mission through three main areas of service.
The Institutional Care Program welcomes children and adolescents from 0 to 18 years old, offering protection, care and emotional support.
The Professional Vocational Training Program provides qualification and apprenticeship courses, supported by a multidisciplinary technical team and adequate facilities to prepare youth for the world of work.
The Community and Full-Time Education Program promotes citizenship through cultural activities, educational workshops and sports in a welcoming environment that fosters healthy relationships and personal development.
Each month, the institution serves around 57,000 meals and maintains its activities through resources from Funcriança, partnerships with municipal agencies and contributions from partner companies through professional apprenticeship quotas.
For more than a century, Fundação O Pão dos Pobres de Santo Antônio has provided children and young people in vulnerable situations with protection, education and new opportunities to build their future.
