Strengthening South Mediterranean Organizations for Youth Employability

Youth unemployment remains a critical challenge in Tunisia,Jordan, Algeria, and Lebanon, with many young people, particularly those Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEETs), women, and rural youth, facing skills mismatches and limited access to career support.
However, youth organizations in these countries lack the institutional capacity, structured employability programs, and digital tools needed to effectively support young people’s transition into the labor market.

GEN-YOUTH strengthens the capacity of youth organizations to enhance employability services and institutional resilience. It provides governance strategies, financial sustainability tools, and best practices in youth employability programming while equipping youth workers with training in career coaching, digital job readiness, and mentorship.

The project is structured into three main areas: organizational capacity building, which includes capacity building Action Plans, training on governance, and a peer- learning visit in Lebanon; youth employability support, featuring a Job Orientation Training Program, Youth Work Innovation Digital Lab, and Capacity-Building Bootcamps; and dissemination and sustainability, which ensures long-term impact through the European Youth Portal, EPALE.

GEN-YOUTH will train youth workers, support young people, and establish a sustainable online learning platform. It will foster regional cooperation between youth organizations and employers, ensuring long-term impact. By addressing European Youth Goals – Quality Employment for All (EU Youth Goal 7), Quality Learning (Goal 8), and Inclusive Societies (Goal 3), the project contributes to sustainable youth employment solutions in the South Mediterranean region.
