Have you ever thought about what happens when the power goes out in a school? When the energy goes, it’s not just the lights that go out. We saw it recently during the blackout in Spain and Portugal.
Without electricity:
- Water pumps stop working
- The cafeteria shuts down
- Computers freeze
- Classrooms become cold or suffocatingly hot
- And the right to learn comes to a halt
In our classrooms in the most fragile contexts of the world, blackouts happen often, even several times a day!
In many places, keeping a school open is becoming increasingly difficult : energy is too expensive, resources are scarce, and those in remote areas risk being left behind. We’ve come up with a concrete solution: making our schools green. Green not in paint, but in renewable energy. Because sustainability is not just an environmental goal — it’s a way to guarantee the right to education.
A green school:
- Lowers energy costs.
- With those savings, it can welcome more students.
- At the same time, a green school protects the planet.
- That’s why we say that a green school makes room for all.
In this third phase, the 1 La Salle campaign focuses on projects that will help create and support green schools.

Who will receive your donation?
With your contribution to the 1 La Salle campaign, you’ll help turn our schools into sustainable and inclusive spaces, serving the most vulnerable communities and our common home. These are our flagship projects:
- A new wastewater management system to irrigate agricultural fields at La Salle School Rumbek, South Sudan.
- Clean and safe drinking water for San Isidro Labrador School and the entire community of Pozo Colorado, Paraguay.
- Solar panels for our schools in Lebanon and Egypt.
- Support for the well-being and daily life of the students residing at the hostel in St Xavier College, Sri Lanka.
- Green citizens of tomorrow at De La Salle Blackfeet in Montana, USA.
- And many other projects to ensure educational opportunities and green training in the world’s most vulnerable communities.
Protect the environment and defend their right to education.
Every future begins at a school desk!
