Have you ever thought about what happens when the power goes out in a school? When the energy goes, it’s not just the lights that go out. We saw it recently during the blackout in Spain and Portugal.

Without electricity:

  • Water pumps stop working
  • The cafeteria shuts down
  • Computers freeze
  • Classrooms become cold or suffocatingly hot
  • And the right to learn comes to a halt

In our classrooms in the most fragile contexts of the world, blackouts happen often, even several times a day!

In many places, keeping a school open is becoming increasingly difficult : energy is too expensive, resources are scarce, and those in remote areas risk being left behind. We’ve come up with a concrete solution: making our schools green. Green not in paint, but in renewable energy. Because sustainability is not just an environmental goal — it’s a way to guarantee the right to education.

A green school:

  • Lowers energy costs.
  • With those savings, it can welcome more students.
  • At the same time, a green school protects the planet.
  • That’s why we say that a green school makes room for all.

In this third phase, the 1 La Salle campaign focuses on projects that will help create and support green schools.
